Individuals may experience trauma differently, especially as a child, adult, or adults with childhood experiences. Trauma response may range from verbal or emotional abuse, grief & loss with significance based on situation, individual and relationship, neglect, school violence, bullying, being attacked or witnessing bodily harm, first responders, those who have served, and something that may be unique experience their personal experience.
Gerri welcomes individuals and families, including preadolescents, teens, and adults, who need assistance to promote emotional health and instill hope for a healthy sense of self and well-being. Gerri provides support to build connection as a therapeutic foundation, to provide the ability for a relationship, listen to what a person is experiencing, and assess and collaborate to gain insight into their individual needs. A number of evidenced-based screens may be used to assist you in understanding your situation and developing strategies, interventions, and increased resilience. I may introduce various therapeutic models and techniques to enhance the body-mind experience.
There is not one singular treatment for trauma. Gerri customizes your therapies depending on how trauma impacts your life. Before starting any treatment, she seeks to understand your individual circumstances.
Therapy can also serve as a way for Gerri to serve as a witness to your pain. She can assist you to work through to help you learn the traumatic effect and impact on your life today and embrace possibilities to move forward with daily life flow. The goal of treatment is not to diminish or erase memories of the trauma but to learn to acknowledge and accept it in a healthy way.
Gerri uses a number of body mindfulness, talk therapies and emotional support. However, if there is a consideration for medication therapy, Gerri may collaborate with psychiatrists and support you in navigating this therapy.
